Short teachings, prophetic insight, and ancient biblical history — straight from the Ancient Philadelphia Fire Society.
In the shadow of Jerusalem’s fall in 70 AD, everything changed. The Temple was destroyed. The center of worship was gone. So how did faith survive? It shifted—from place… to teaching. Rabbis began preserving traditions through what became known as the Oral Law—eventually compiled into the Mishnah, and later expanded into the Talmud. These writings shaped Jewish life, law, and interpretation for centuries. At the same time, another movement was growing—the followers of Jesus. They held to Scripture, while often challenging traditions that, in their view, added to or overshadowed it. Jesus warned about elevating human tradition above God’s Word. Later, the book of Revelation mentions a group called the Nicolaitans—associated with compromise and distorted practices. Are these connected to broader patterns in religious history? That question is still debated. There is no direct historical link—but the theme remains relevant: How is truth preserved? Through tradition? Through Scripture? Or both? This tension between interpretation and revelation has shaped faith for generations… And it still matters today. Disclaimer: For informational and entertainment purposes only.
